Nezinscot Farm was the first dairy in the state of Maine to be certified organic. That was back in 1994.
In 1997 we joined with Organic Valley and began shipping milk wholesale to them. We have anywhere from 90 to 125 cows ( holsteins, jerseys, brown swiss and crosses ) and 12 to 15 goats producing milk at any given time.
As a certified producer of organic milk, we do not use antibiotics or hormones on our cows. We utilize homeopathic methods in caring for them, and we maintain as stress free of an environment as possible for the animals. Ninety percent of all our animal feed is grown by us with the balance being primarily cornmeal and minerals.
